Thermen- & Vulkanland
Millions of years ago, during the formation of the Alps, the earth’s crust erupted in this region and magma gushed out of volcanoes. The volcanoes have long been extinct, but they still characterise the landscape. Their slopes are covered with hops and wine.
Hot springs lie dormant deep in the earth. The hot, mineral-rich water is used for healing and relaxation in the numerous thermal spas, whose towns are therefore called Bath (“Bad”).
