Dear blog visitor!
Wonderful that you have found my blog. I’m Lambert Widdersinn and I journal here the hiking trail, I have walked, sometimes even including bike tours or races. Simply everything I do outside.
Memory is a fleeting commodity. You forget so quickly. All I remember of my first hikes today is an oh-was-that-beautiful. There are a few pictures, of course, but that’s about it.
To prevent forgetting, I began to record my impressions in a journal ✍️ My stories were soon shared with friends. And at some point I thought to myself, “Why not publish them? A blog of my own would be a cool thing. Maybe the stories will bring joy to someone else or help them on similar trips.”
Now you probably think I’m an old sheep 🐑 in the hiking circus - he forgets a lot after all - but I haven’t been exploring the trails of this world for that long yet. I stayed a homebody for a long time. But the second corona lockdown was my wake-up call, in two ways.
Locked inside my own four walls, I looked out of the window and realised how much nature was waiting for me. Moreover, walks alone were one of the few ways to escape the dreariness and boredom of the same old white walls.
But something even more drastic happened: the scales showed that I was overweight for the first time in my life! 😧 I had really let myself go. I had to do something. Get rid of the excess kilos.
The walks became longer and longer. Over time, I also added a few runs. At first, I could only run one kilometre at a time, before losing my breath. But my weight and fitness improved. Slowly but surely.
I went on a few short hikes in the summer. I switched more and more from walking to running. Thanks to my increasing fitness. That’s why I now alternate between walking and running on my trips.
One more thing. You may have wondered about my strange name. It’s a pseudonym, of course 😜
On my walks, I regularly passed a pasture where a small lamb was hopping. I called it “Lambert” just for fun. Lambert soon grew into a magnificent ram 🐏 He definitely has a sense for nature. After all, he spends most of his time outside. So the name Lam(m)-bert Widder-sinn was born. It’s German. “Widder” means ram and “Sinn” sense. “Lamm” is of course lamb. It’s a little word play.
You are also welcome to contact me. Either in the contact field or via the links next to my profile. I would also be very happy to receive a small donation. Maintaining the website doesn’t cost much, but new equipment for hiking and running is always needed.
